From 1963 to 2001, sophisticated underwater photographers had access to a setup we can only dream about - Nikon's Nikonos underwater camera system with water-contact lenses. The camera was nice, but the lenses, they were spectacular. They were designed to perform best with water against the lens instead of air, resulting in amazingly crisp underwater pictures. In 2001, as cameras began to go digital, Nikon discontinued the Nikonos film camera system. Until now, there has been no way to use those amazing Nikonos lenses with a digital SLR camera. That's where PiratePro comes in. We have invented a housing and lens adapters that allow underwater photographers to use Nikonos lenses with an Olymups EP-1 digital camera. If you're interested in details, please read the PiratePro FAQ. We hope to be selling housings by December 2009. We have prototypes in production and we're working on getting our first batch manufactured. If you'd like to keep up with where we're at, you can become a fan on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or just e-mail us and we'll add you to our notification list. We promise not to spam you or sell your name, but we will email you when our Nikonos-capable housing comes out. If you'd be interested in giving us feedback about the designs we're considering and the choices we're making, we'd also love to hear from you.
